Long Live King Garner!
His Royal Highness, King of Iraq
The Bush administration has set up the next King of Iraq, ex arms dealer, General Jay Garner.
In the now normal diplomatic style of the US, the Pentagon had a coronation, behind closed doors. I hear Bush wore his religious robes and anointed General Jay Garner as "Co-ordinator Of Civilian Administration." I didn't get an announcement did you? Don't feel bad ,Congress and England didn't either.
He has been called a Dick Cheney clone. He too is a unilateralist hawk, or in other words one of the "Bush Boys". This one has extensive defense industry connections. As it turns out, he was not very good in the business arena. So Bush has one more failed businessman on his team, just like him.
Now let talk about Ex-General Jay.
During Gulf War I, in 1991, Ex-General Jay went to Congress and bragged about the success of the Patriot missiles during the Iraqi attack on Israel. It was revealed that the Patriots caused more damage to Israel than the Iraqi Scuds they were supposed to bring down. By the way nothing happened to him, no charges, no investigation. Just like it didn't happen at all.
Remember the ever popular Star Wars defense system? He was a fervent proponent of that fatally flawed defense system. Talk about cajones, he lied again. This time it was about how well the testing was proceeding. The results of its testing were later revealed to be rigged. Imagine that somebody faked the data. By the way nothing happened to him again, no charges, no investigation again. Just like it didn't happen at all.
This is a pretty interesting guy. Nothing sticks, it's just like he was made of grease. Grimy sounds more like it. Well, let's see. Garner retired from the military in 1997 to become President of SY Technology, a defense contractor specializing in missile defense systems. The company soon landed non-competitive contracts as part of the Star Wars program. The contract was alleged to have been procured through Garner's influence, According to a Pentagon whistleblower, former Lt. Colonel Biff Baker, who stated that the contracts were procured through Garner's influence. These were non-competitive contracts. This case didn't seem to go anywhere, during the Bush administration. By the way nothing happened to him again, no charges, no investigation again. Just like it didn't happen at all.
Yet another strange but true coincidence, is that his company was awarded a $1.5 billion contract this year to provide logistics services to U.S. special operations forces. His former company also has contracts to help build the new and improved Patriot missile systems for Israel and Kuwait. (these systems actually work now)
Why would the White House pick such a slimy guy, a man who has repeatedly lied to Congress, and has such a dubious past? BECAUSE THEY CAN! Bush is using some chump change, just a few pennies from the political capital he gathered as a wartime president. It would be unpatriotic to bitch about someone anointed by Bush, even if that anointee is greasy grimy General Jay, ex-arms dealer.
It is not surprising to hear that the United Nations, aid agencies, are deeply concerned about Garner’s business background, asserting that the appointment of a U.S. general and arms dealer into a humanitarian and administrative role is the “worst case scenario” for running Iraq after war.
Isin't that what we have been getting all along since Bush has taken office "The worst scenarios"
