Neo-con charged with spying for Israel
Former neo-con defense intelligence analyst who was formally charged with spying today may also be linked to Valarie Plame investigation. The US justice department has charged Lawrence Franklin a neo-con, and former career analyst at the Defense Intelligence Agency with passing American secrets to two individuals from the influential lobby group, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) The alleged espionage took place on 26 June 2003 where Franklin passed secret information at a restaurant in Arlington, Virginia.

Prior to the Iraq war Franklin reported to Doug Feith Under-Secretary of Defense. Doug Feith was responsible for the Office of Special Plans. A special intelligence group that reported to Vice President Cheney. The group's mission was to glean through all the intelligence to justify the Iraq war. This group also used discredited information from Ahmad Chalabi's as well. Doug Feith's father, Dalck Feith, was an active member of Betar, a militant Zionist movement and forerunner of Israel's Likud Party. This recent incident marks the latest Israeli spy operation since the Jonathan Pollard, a civilian intelligence analyst for the navy, was arrested and sentenced to life in prison for spying for Israel in 1985. It was previously rumored that Franklin passed a draft of the presidential order known as the National Security Presidential Directive to an American reservist who was working at the U.S. Embassy in Israel.
